Two Cases of Delirium from Transdermal Scopolamine(Kimite(r))



Abstract
The characteristic feature of delirium is presence of clouded consciousness that develops relatively quickly and fluctuates during the day, an association with attentional, perceptual, cognitive and amnestic changes.
Delirium can be caused by toxic substance, metabolic and endocrine disturbance, infection and head trauma and drug.
Transdermal scopolamine(Kimite(r))of anticholinergic property also could induce delirium.
We would like to report two cases of delirium induced by transdermal scopolamine, which is usually used to prevent motion sickness.
The characteristic features of these cases were following : abrupt onset and rapid improvement of symptoms, attaching patches behind the both sides of the ears.
